Unlike the Biotechnique Avance 'standard' laser
epilators (SLD15, 30, 50, 80 and 100 units) the SDL 'C' line is has
a specially engineered BK7 cool tip condenser which is designed
to be in direct contact with the skin. This allows for far greater
absorption and penetration of the laser energy to the desired
tissues.
With surface laser epilation a significant percentage of the laser
energy simply bounces off the skin or is absorbed by the hair
itself. Though this is impressive during a 'laser shaving' process while it treats the follicles below the skin, of the 180 joules of energy delivered during this type of treatment procedure, only about 120 joules of energy will actually pass through the skin. This is why the SDL 'C' line was developed.
Of the impressive 200 joules of energy delivered with the SDL-90C, an
amazing 188 joules of energy makes it to the 4th and 5th layers of the
dermis (where most anagen hair growth starts).
The SDL 'C' systems must be used in conjunction with a topical gel
paste (which also contains lidocaine which will help with any patient discomfort). As the SDLC cool tip glides across the gel-coated
skin, the high energy laser pulses are delivered deep into the desired
tissues. The results are faster and more substantial than the
standard SDL line of surface epilators.
The SDLC line can also be used for surface laser epilation procedures just like the standard SDL line. You would simply hold the module 1/2 inch from the skin rather than gliding it across the skin with gel past. It is important to note that the SDL-C series cool-tip ball lens should never contact the clients skin without protective gel paste, so surface epilation procedures should be done with extra care.
