How Many Treatments Does It Take to Permanently Remove Hair with
Electrolysis? Most hairs will be eliminated with only 1
treatment, but some will need two or more to
achieve permanency. Electrolysis involves a series of
treatments over a period of about 1 to 3 months. The total
length of time depends on the amount of hair, its coarseness and the
cause of the hair. Once the papilla has been eliminated, the
hair is dead and will not re grow.
Is It Painful? No, Electrolysis rarely causes discomfort. If
it does, adjustments can be made to the current which will eliminate any sensation (although the
total length of the treatment will
be increased). The feeling is less than what you experience in
tweezing. Most clients are surprised as they expect to feel
much more.
Is it Hard or Painful to Insert the Needle? Not at all.
The insertion of the
stylus probe is much easier and less intimidating than
most people believe. The "needle" is actually a blunt ended, flexible probe which never pierces the skin. It slides effortlessly down a pre existing shaft,
like a hand into a glove.
To insert the probe stylus, simply find the follicle opening with the tip, match the angle of growth, then slide it
downward until it stops (it will not push through the bottom).
Once the probe is correctly placed, depress the foot switch on your
electrolysis machine. A micro current of energy will exit the
probe, permanently destroying the follicle. Micro Probe
Electrolysis is so complete and thorough only 1 of 10 hairs may
return to require a second treatment.
Can I Perform 'Home Electrolysis'? Yes, the procedure is quite safe
and easy. There are many home electrolysis systems on the market.
Most of which use an inefficient 9 volt current with a
very large probe (0.006-0.008 inch diameter). This low voltage makes
for long treatment times of sixty seconds or more. The large diameter
probe stylus makes insertion difficult and somewhat uncomfortable.
The best advice for home treatments is to buy a medium to high power
system from 18 to 24 volts which has a foot switch and a small
diameter probe stylus (0.003 maximum). The expertise required to
operate an electrolysis machine is very minimal.
How Much Hair Can Be Removed in 1 Treatment? The amount of hair
that can be removed per treatment depends upon the sensitivity of
the patient, how the skin reacts and the proficiency of the
technician.
